I witnessed a young man around the age of sixteen walk up to an elderly lady in a store. He said, “Ma’am you look sad and lonely, like you could use a hug?” Her response, “I have not had a hug since my husband died several years ago. I would love a hug.” The smile on her face was priceless. The moment is one I often reflect upon.
A sixteen-year old boy acting on the prompting of his heart and intuition. We should all be so brave as to step out of our own comfort zones to care about and to connect with others putting the fear of rejection aside.
The elderly lady. How many people go without experiencing a real human connection? Hugs feel good don’t they? I am not suggesting that we all go out today with the intention of hugging total strangers although the world just might be a little better for it.
Today I am thinking about ways that we can “hug” other people even from a distance.
Encourage their dreams.
Reach out beyond social media.
Give of yourself without expectation.
Refuse to listen to gossip about them.
Support their endeavors.
Be kind. Kindness is free and the joy it brings is priceless.
Remember their special days without being reminded by Facebook! If you do not know of a special day, you can make it a “just because” day.
A big one here…SMILE. Yours may be the only smile that they see all day.
Be prepared to bring a shovel if … just kidding 😉
Love you all!
Until Next Time,
