For a slight change of pace…
I was pondering conversations that I have had with numerous people throughout all walks of life. Specifically, I was thinking about those times that people have asked how I have accomplished specific goals. Whether it be my weight loss, my GPA, writing, dealing with issues of life- my answer is always the same.
There is no magic pill for weight loss. Studying takes hard work. Writing takes focus. Issues of life take strength. None of those however, are the answer.
Many of us look to others for inspiration. Inspiration without desire equals nothing more than admiration. We read books, hire counselors, attend motivational workshops yet we still seek. Millions of dollars are spent each new year by people seeking to make changes. Yet, many never change.
I believe the answer to be most basic. Before we can make a change, before we get to the point of good grades, weight loss or overall general success, we have to want it! We have to possess the desire to change but even more so we must have the inherent determination that comes from within to want something so badly that we will not accept anything less that the end result that we have pictured in our minds.
Almost every conversation that I have had revolving around this subject results in someone saying to me that they wish they could do “it” too. Through further discussion, most deliver excuses or reasons that they cannot accomplish something. Excuse is simply a word that means that the desire, drive and determination do not exist. No passion!
Once you become passionate about a goal, then the rest falls into place. Perhaps, you are not committed to weight loss. That is okay! It is just not important to you at this time. Not all the positivity in the world can make someone who is not committed to something succeed.
However, once someone sets their mind to something, add a little encouragement and positivity and stand back and watch them race to this finish line!
Once a person has the passion to do something- nothing can stop them!
