Okay Ladies…(and gentleman if it applies?) I have vowed to write whatever comes to me, whatever is weighing on my heart – to be totally transparent in hopes that someone reading that has previously felt they were alone in feeling a certain way or experiencing something could now say, “You too?” I want you to feel connected and not alone! My writing is essentially my ministry – a tithe of my life experiences.
I pray often that God will use me and that I will just get out of the way!
Here is my confession for the day. I read A LOT! One of the books that I was reading just yesterday was referencing bloggers that had such large audiences that they were invited to travel abroad on mission trips so they could write back to their respective audiences in hopes of getting sponsorship dollars.
It made me feel like these people were somehow MORE than me. Oh, that comparison trap! Anyway, I felt so insignificant in the kingdom of God for a little while afterwards. Let me say that again, I felt insignificant in the kingdom of God! I mean, what difference can I possibly make compared to writers with such large audiences that they were actually called and invited to travel abroad? NO ONE IS INSIGNIFICANT IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
Satan would have loved for me to stay… right there!
Well guess what? I did not allow that to happen. I thought about YOU. I started out with one follower, my husband (God Bless Him!) I just kept writing and praying that something that I wrote would resonate with one person. ONE PERSON! I begged God to take the pen. I told God that it would all be worth if just one person had a better day or drew closer to Him because of something that I/we wrote. Over time, my husband was joined by others in following me (he is such a trendsetter!)
We are still a rather small group here at Redwood Perspective but we are growing everyday. I say “we” because this is an “us” thing! I cherish each and every one of you. You all matter to me. I love hearing from you.
As I sat there, putting things into perspective – I thought about those bloggers that had such large readerships that they were being called out for bigger things and realized that we are all a part of God’s team. A ministry for God regardless of the size is just that – for God. The truth is that we should all be concerned with an audience of one!
Satan would really like us to be pitted against one another, destroying one another rather than building one another up. In the past, I would have fallen for it.
What I realized was that I am serving God, right here, right where I am at! I have no idea what God has in store for this endeavor but I trust that it is in His hands and belongs to Him and that it is a part of His purpose!
The ultimate message is that YOU can make an impact for God right where you are at! Do not discount the positive impact that you can have for God’s kingdom. A simple smile, a hug, a message to someone that you are thinking about them – KINGDOM WORK! It is all SIGNIFICANT!
We are all tempted, discouraged, tested, and so many more of THOSE words daily! Start to notice what is of God and what is not. If you find yourself in a funk, take a time out. Think about what you are thinking about. Is it a thought that is attempting to tear you down or build the kingdom up?
If it happens to be a thought trying to tear you down, take a moment to realize just how close to victory that you are and carry on!
Until Next Time…
